The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 185 HASELHAM, John James WWII John was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, in 1921. He joined the Army on April 20, 1940 and served with the Saskatchewan Regiment overseas. His discharge came on October 5, 1945 and he received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the Italy, France and Germany Stars. He joined the Alameda Branch #267 on January 22, 1946. HAYS, David Balfour WWI & WWII David was born at Stonewall, Manitoba, in 1895. He served in WWI in Germany, France, Belgium and Holland. He moved to Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, in the 1920s and served in WWII with the Saskatoon Light Infantry Machine Gun Corps, 221st Battalion. He married Helen Joyce Davies in Oswestry, England, in 1942 and had two children born in England. Dave was discharged on August 2, 1945 and returned to the Harlan District, north of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, to farm and had two more children. Helen returned to England in 1949. Dave was a member of the Frenchman Butte Legion Branch #183. He passed away in 1977 and is buried at the Fort Pitt Cemetery, Saskatchewan. HEIBEIN, Henery John WWII Henery was born in 1924 and joined the Army serving in England, Holland and Germany. He passed away in 2006. HAYWARD, William WWI & WWII Bill was born in the county of Suffock, England, in 1893. He resided in Welwyn from about 1910 until his death. He was employed on various farms in the district and was also a mail carrier in the village after the war. In May 1916, he enlisted with the 217th Battalion and served with the Veteran Guard from 1942 until 1945 in Canada, England and France. Bill married Maude Lavelle of Winnipeg. He received two service medals 1914-1918 and one service medal 1939-45. Bill was a member of the Welwyn Branch #112 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
