The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 175 HAINSTOCK, Henry WWI Henry was born in Minto, Manitoba, on April 17, 1894, the oldest of six children born to David and Elizabeth. He went to school in Minto and joined the RCA 1st Depot Division. After the war, he worked at road construction, on farms and sawing wood. He married Eva McDairmid on March 15, 1927 at Melfort and they farmed at Leacross and then moved to the Jordan River District in March 1941 and raised a family of five: Janet, Frank, Vera, Gertrude and Mabel. They moved to Arborfield in 1960 and sold their farm in 1961. Henry passed away in 1964. Eva moved to Nipawin and passed away in 2001. HAMILTON, Boyd Nelson WWII Boyd was born at Tisdale, Saskatchewan, on August 2, 1922, son of Henry and Mary Hamilton. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and was stationed in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, and Windsor, Ontario, as an engine room artificer. Boyd passed away of cancer on January 19, 2002. He was a member of Branches #50 and #54 of The Royal Canadian Legion for five years. HANDE, Philip H. WWII Philip was born in Marchwell, Saskatchewan, on July 28, 1916. He joined the Army in 1942 with the 1st Field Park Coy, RCE (Special) 2nd Division and landed in Normandy hauling supplies to the front line through Germany and was discharged in 1946. He married Frances in 1947 and they had two children. HANDE, Dirk PEACETIME Dirk was born in Marchwell, Saskatchewan, on December 23, 1953. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in August 1977 and was stationed at Halifax, Nova Scotia, and served with the 1st Canadian Submarine Squadron (Able Seaman) on HMCS Onondaga until his discharge in July 1979. After returning home, he went back to work in the potash mine and married Cheryl in 1981 and they had two children. He moved to British Columbia, where he works in a lumber mill. He was a member of the Langenburg Br # 250 and was transferred to Gold River Legion in British Columbia.
