The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 151 FARNDEN, Arthur Thomas WWII Arthur was born in Virden, Manitoba, on July 23, 1918 and moved to Alameda with his parents in 1934. He joined the Army in 1941 and was discharged in 1943 due to poor health. He returned home and married Eva McLagan and they had a family of three children. He was an active member of the Alameda Branch #267 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He passed away on January 12, 2000. FARNDEN, William Daniel “Dan” WWII Dan was born at Oak Lake, Manitoba, on June 29, 1922. He joined the Army in 1941 and was with Unite Calgary Tank Regiment C.A.B., serving in Canada, England, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After his discharge in 1946, he married Lily McKiver of Montreal and they raised five children. Dan was a member of the Alameda Branch #267 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He passed away on October 12, 1999. FEDUN, Nick WWII Nick was born in the Whitesand District north of Springside, Saskatchewan, and joined the 5th Field Regiment, 2nd Division in March 1942 and did his basic training in Canada and went overseas in 1943, serving in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After his discharge in December 1945, he married Dorothy and they had two children. He was part of #557 Squadron Air Cadets and their instructor for twelve years. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the Defence Medal, the France/Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star and the 1939-45 War Medal. Nick has been a member of the Langenburg Branch #250 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 41 years. FEDAK, George PEACETIME George was born in Tuffnell, Saskatchewan, in 1933. He joined the Air Force and served in Canada and France from 1951 to 1981 as a CO and Supply Officer Air Cadet from 1981-1987 in Macklin, Saskatchewan, and CO and Supply Officer Air Cadet from 1987-1996 in Penhold, Alberta. He was a member of the Red Deer Branch #035 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 40 years before he passed away in 2003.
