The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 135 DOYLE, Chester WWII Chester was born in 1919 near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. At an early age, he helped his father and brothers at bush camps building roads and railway crossings. He moved with his parents, Matt and Elizabeth, and family to the White Fox homestead. He joined the Army in 1940 and went overseas. Before returning home, he married Mary Black in Scotland and they farmed in the White Fox area and raised five children. Chester retired to Prince George where he passed away in 2008. DOYLE, Larry WWII Larry was born to Matt and Elizabeth on December 25, 1924, near Saskatoon. He moved with his family to the White Fox area to homestead and enlisted in the Army on March 1, 1943 and went overseas. He was wounded in France and received his discharge in October 1945 and married Ila May Meyers from White Fox and they raised three children. Larry now lives at Prince George, British Columbia. DRYSDALE, John William WWII John was born in Uren, Saskatchewan, in 1922. He joined the Army and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Jon passed away in July 2009 and was a Life Member of the Kinistino Branch #129 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DOYLE, Vernon “Mike” WWII Mike was born near Saskatoon on November 24, 1917 and worked with his father and brothers at building roads, railway crossing and bush camps. He moved with the family to the White Fox area to homestead. He worked in the Vancouver shipyards in 1941 and was in the Army from 1942-1945. He came to Garrick, Saskatchewan, to take up land and married Evelyn Von Bieker and raised three children. They are now retired and living in Nipawin.
