The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 123 DEGRYSE, Ernest WWII Ernest was born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, on September 21, 1917. He joined the 15th Field Regiment, 4th Division (Gunner) on June 19, 1941 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and France. Ernest drowned while crossing the Seine River in action on August 28, 1944 and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize, France. He has a geo memorial in Northern Saskatchewan called Degryse Lake. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the Defence Medal and the France/Germany Star. DEGRYSE, Henry WWII Henry was born in Bredenbury, Saskatchewan, on August 13, 1919. He enlisted with the 15th Field Regiment, 4th Division, 110th Battery (General) on May 28, 1941 and served in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was discharged on January 26, 1946 and worked in Langenburg as a mechanic’s helper in local elevators and caretaker at the post office. He married Anita and they had one daughter. They retired in Langenburg. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal, the 1939-45 War Medal and the France/Germany Star. DELAYEN, S. J. WWII S. J. was born on March 15, 1919 at Sutherland, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Army in December 1940, serving with the mechanical and electrical engineers (RCEME) in Canada and the United Kingdom. He left the service in January 1946. He is married. DELAINEY, C. R. Royal Canadian Air Force C. R. Delainey was born on February 15, 1939 at Watson, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1957, serving in Canada. He left the service in 1959. He is married.
