The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 9 ABRAHAMSON, John KOREAN WAR John was born in Brooks, Alberta, on October 1, 1934. He enlisted in the Navy on December 18, 1952 for service in the Korean War and left the service on December 18, 1957 as an Able Seaman. ABTOSWAY, Stewart Glenville WWII Stewart was born in Little Current, Ontario, in 1904. He joined the Army in August 1943 at Camp Borden and served overseas. Stewart had five brothers who also served their country in WWII. He passed away in 1998. ACTON, Norman WWII Norman was born on February 2, 1919 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He enlisted on June 6, 1941 at Saskatoon in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada. He left the service on September 24, 1945 at Regina as Corporal. Married with one son, he worked after the war as a sheet metal worker with Canadian Pacific Railway and was later self-employed. He was active on the building committee of Saskatoon’s Mayfair United Church and also active in reflexology and after retirement helped seniors with their health problems. ABTOSWAY, Walter Eugene PEACETIME Walter was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, in 1936. He enlisted in the Army at age 18 and served in Canada and Germany. He took his release in 1958 and was awarded the Special Services Medal with the NATO Bar. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion in 1964 in Foam Lake and was later transferred to Coleman, Alberta, and has held the building chair for many years and continues to do so, providing invaluable service to the Branch. Walter has received a Certificate of Appreciation and several letters of commendation for his efforts in support of the Coleman Branch of The Legion. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #16 for 45 continuous years.
