The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 99 CRAGG, Garnet WWII Garnet was born in 1907 at Neepawa, Manitoba, and is the son of David and Margery Cragg. Garnet lived briefly at Carrot River and Melfort before moving to Punnichy. He enlisted in 1941 with the Calgary Highlanders but was killed on August 26, 1944. He is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery, Calvados, France. Garnet was a cousin to Bill and Dave Cragg. CRAGG, Wes WWI Wes was born at Greenbank, Ontario, in 1887 and came to Saskatchewan with his brother Fleetwood in 1907. Wes joined the First Canadian Reserve Regiment in 1918 and went overseas to France and Belgium and served with the Occupation Forces in Germany. He was discharged on May 27, 1919 and married Mary Tyrie of Scotland in Saskatoon in 1919. They returned to his homestead and raised five children: Dave, Bill, Jim, Betty and Jack. Wes passed way in 1965 and Mary lived with their son, Jim, on the homestead. She passed away in 1982 and Jim still resides on the homestead. CRAIG, Fred “Blackie” WWII Fred was born on October 9, 1922 on a prairie homestead on section 20, township 19, range 7 west of the third meridian. He enlisted in the Army on August 6, 1940 at Regina and served in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe with the 16/22 Armoured Tank Regiment (Saskatchewan Horse) and with the South Alberta Regiment and left the service in Regina in February, 1946 as a Trooper. He was a prisoner of war for a few hours. Married with three daughters, after the war, Fred worked with the building industry and was a member of the Mayfair United Church. CRAIG, Clarence WWII Clarence was born on October 3, 1921 at Calderbank, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Army in September 1940 and served with the Armoured Regiment (BCD) in Italy and Northwest Europe and left the service in June 1946 as a Private. Clarence is married.
