The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 91 DEMERAIS, Louis Ray WWII Louis was born in 1907 to William and Harriet Demerais in the Coxby District, north of Brancepeth. Louis married Ethel Ballendine in 1939. He joined the R.C.A.M.C. in November of 1941 and took his basic training in St. Jerome, Quebec and then Camp Borden, Ontario and then to Regina where he remained until his discharge in 1946. He was not allowed to go overseas because of an injury to his right hand. After his discharge he returned to farm in Coxby, later moving to Birch Hills. They raised a family of 13 children. Louis passed away in 1999. DEMPSEY, Dagnall Thomas WWII Dagnall was born in Neville, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment R.C.I.C. He was killed in action in Dieppe on August 8, 1942. Dagnall is buried at the Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery, Hautot-Sur-Mer. DENNIS, Copley Special Duty Copley was born in 1933 in Kiethley, Yorkshire, England. He served with the British Army in the Suez Canal Zone doing Policing Action. He served first with the Corp. of Signals, then with the Military Police and finally with the R.E.M.E. Copley has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Lanigan Branch #143 for 40 years. DENNIS, Anthony Leslie WWII Anthony was born in 1918 in Folkestone, Kent, England. He was 21 when WWII broke out and because of a previous application to join the forces in peacetime; his name was still on file. He was contacted immediately and was asked to join. He went to Regina and took his Oath of Allegiance and became a member of the Armed Forces on Sept. 3, 1939. His unit was HQ Company RCASC MD12 and after serving with this unit he applied for a transfer to Infantry and served in Canada. He was honourably discharged in Oct. of 1946. He has been a member of the RCL Branch #113 for 61 years.
