The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 71 COLES, Donald Lewis WWI & WWII Donald was born on February 5, 1898 in London England. He joined the British Army in 1914 and was in Somme France when he was wounded and taken as a P.O.W. until the Armistice. After the war he came to the Foxdale District and started farming. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 2, 1944 as Corporal and was stationed for a time in Calgary before being sent overseas. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Shellbrook Branch #111 from 1923 until his passing away in July of 1946. COLTON, Gordon WWII Gordon was born in 1916 in Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England as a Radar Technician for Bomber Aircrafts. Gordonʼs son recalls his father telling about a time that he helped repair the radar equipment on one aircraft. It was understood that Gordon should go along with the crew to see that it was working, as it should. Apparently, through unknown circumstances, Gordon was left behind at the base. He later heard that the aircraft bomber never did return home to England. Gordon passed away on June 20, 1997. COOK, Daniel J. WWII Daniel was born in 1923 in Birch Hills, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the #6 Repair Depot in Canada until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Birch Hills Branch #122 for 42 years. Daniel passed away in 1987. CONVERSE, Carl Vincent WWII Carl was born in 1914 in Nipawin, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy during the war. He served aboard the HMCS Frigate Beacon Hill in England and Ireland. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion SK Hospital Branch #349. Carl passed away in 2005.
