The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 55 BROWN, Edward William “Ted” WWII Ted was born in 1910 in Wymondham, England. He moved to Canada in 1912 with his family and settled in the Yorkton area and then Tisdale. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943, where he filled the position of Tail Gunner until he was honourably discharged in 1946. He served in England and Europe. He received the 1939-45 Star, Air Gunnerʼs Badge, France and Germany Victory, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Snowden Branch #205 for 59 years. Ted passed away on March 2, 2003. BROWN, Faron Peacekeeping Faron did his recruit training in NS from September – December 1985, and attended PPCLI Battle School from January – May 1986. He was assigned to 1st Battalion Calgary, AB from May 1986 to May 1982. He completed his Military Major Exercise in Wainwright, AB, then remustered to Cook trade in May 1992, before being posted to CFB 15 Wing Moose Jaw, SK in October 1992. Faron completed a UN Peacekeeping Tour in Haiti from September 1995 to April 1996. He served about HMCS Calgary in Victoria, BC from July 1996 to December 1998. He did Military Navy Exercises in Costa Rico, Callao, Peru, Valparaiso, Chile, Galapagon Islands, and USA. BROWN, Leonard WWII Leonard joined the Canadian Armed Forces in September of 1941. He trained as an ammunition artillery driver at Petawawa, ON and then he transferred to a holding unit in Truro, NS, and then was transported to Camp Borden, England. He was posted to #13 Field Artillery, loading ammo to be transported to France. He also stockpiled the ammo in different locations for the front line pick up. Leonard was wounded in France, and spent 9 months in an English hospital. He was awarded the France & Germany Star, Defense Medal, War Medal and the CVSM & Clasp. He was discharged in September of 1946. BROWN, Joe Peacetime Joe joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in December of 1950 and took basic training in St, Johnʼs QC starting on March 28, 1951. In August of 1951 he was sent to 2 C.M.U. Calgary. The next 4 years were spent going from Air base to air base doing repairs on buildings throughout Canada and as far north as Replace Bay. In Aug of 1955 he took 3 months training as W.S.P.O.L. at London, ON. He transferred to Rivers MB for 7 years and the transferred to Penhold, AB for 2 years. He applied and received discharge to take over the family farm in 1964. Joe is a Pelly Legion Member.
