The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 51 BRAUN, David Robert William Afghanistan David was born on August 3, 1979 in Regina, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Forces in February of 2002. He obtained the rank of corporal and was a signaler with 1 Platoon, A Company, 2nd Battalion Princess Patriciaʼs Canadian Light Infantry, stationed at CFB Shilo. His 1st tour was to Bosnia in 2003 before being deployed to Afghanistan in early August 2006. On August 22, 2006, David was killed by a suicide bomber at Kandahar. He received the following medals: NATO former Yugoslavia Medal, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, and posthumously, General Campaign Star. BRAY, Lorne T. Peacetime Lorne was born in 1928 in Markinch, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1951 and served for 27 years until 1978. He received the Centennial Medal in 1967 and the rank of Sergeant in 1971. Lorne has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Moose Jaw Branch #59 for 22 years. BRIERS, Oliver B. WWII Oliver was born in 1926 in Lethbridge, AB. He enlisted with the Army in 1944 and served in Suffield, AB and in Medicine Hat until his discharge in 1946. Oliver is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tompkins Branch #140. BRECKNELL, Dale Heron WWII Dale was born in Drake SK on November 4, 1922 & moved to Pelly in 1927. He enlisted in the Army on April 27, 1942 in Winnipeg and trained as a motorcycle Dispatch Rider in Kingston, ON. He was sent to England attached to the signal unit, F section 2nd Field Regiment of Artillery, Canadian 1st Division at Eastbourne England. He served in Sicily, Italy. France, Belgium. Holland and Germany. He returned to Canada in December of 1945 & arrived in Pelly on New Years Eve. He was discharged from the army in Winnipeg on February 18, 1946. Dale received 5 medals of Honour.
