He enlisted with the Army and served with the Edmonton Fusiliers in Canada. He trained in Prince Albert, Prince George and Maple Creek. He served for 3 ½ years before his discharge on September 14, 1945. Andrew is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Spiritwood Branch #182. BOECHLER, John Andrew Peacetime John was born in 1942 in Prince Albert, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 1st P.P.C.I.L. in Edmonton and Victoria and the R.C.E.M.E. in Kingston and Calgary. John is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Spiritwood Branch #182. BONDERUD, Alan Norman WWII Alan was born in 1918 in Leroy, SK. He joined active service in July of 1942 and was a member of the Queenʼs Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. He served in the United Kingdom and North West Europe. Upon his discharge he received the following Medals: 1939-45 Star – Overseas War Effort; France and Germany Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp for Active Service; War Medal – WWII. Alan was one of the founding members of The Royal Canadian Legion Leroy Branch #309 and was a member for over 50 years before his passing in May of 2002. BONAR, James Edward WWI James was born on September 11, 1886 in the High View District. In the fall of 1917 he enlisted in Wawota in the 81st Battery and trained in Regina. In 1918 he went overseas to England where he guarded prisoners at Ripon Yorkshire, having attained the rank of Corporal. He went with the 15th Canadian Reserve to parade before the King, Queen and Duke of Windsor in a March Past at Sheffield on the outskirts of London. He returned home in 1919 to farm. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Wawota Branch # 113. James passed away on December 11, 1982.
