The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 369 YURCHISON, William WWII William was born in Pelly, SK. He served with the No. 227 Sqn. Beaufighter Aircraft No. JL 939. William went missing in action on a trip across the Agean Sea to Rhode Island, Greece on November 5, 1943, at the age of 21. William has no known grave, but his name is included on the Alamein War Memorial in Egypt. ZADOYOZNIAK, Steve WWII Steve was born in 1923 in West Bend, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served in England, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Foam Lake Branch #16 for 15 years. Steve passed away in 1995. ZENTNER, Jacob Joseph WWII Jacob was born in 1913 in Senate, SK. Being the eldest son of a large farm family; Jacob remained at home to help on the farm the first years of WWII. After completing basic training in eastern Canada, the war ended. ZAREMBA, Alf WWII Alf worked in the Wordsworth area as a section hand on the Railway. He boarded at Percy and Louise DeGeers. He will be remembered for his ability to play the accordion, as well as being a good ball player. When the Second World War broke out, Alf enlisted in the Canadian Army and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Wordsworth, where he met and married Adalina Johnstone. They raised a family of seven children, of which two children have passed away. Both Addie and Alf have passed away.
