The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 367 WYPOROWICH, Nick WWII Nick was born in 1922 in Chatfield, Manitoba. He enlisted with the Army and took his Basic Training at Prince Albert, Advanced Training at Brandon, and Battle Training at Debert, NS. He was shipped overseas to England and served in Italy, Holland and Germany in the front lines. After the war was over, he joined the Peacetime Army and served in Germany for a few months. He was then shipped back to Canada and was discharged on June 20, 1946. He received the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star and the CVSM and Clasp. Nick is a member of The RCL Wawota Branch. YALOWEGA, Bill WWII Bill enlisted with the Army in 1941 and served in Italy and on the Western Front until the end of the war. YOUNG, George Ronald “Ron” WWII Ron was born on May 16,1920 to Archie and Maisie (Anderson) Young, who farmed two miles north of Carlyle, SK. Ron took his schooling at Carlyle and farmed until he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in July of 1941. He trained as an air-frame mechanic and served at St. Jeanʼs, Quebec. In 1943, he married Florence DeGeer. In 1944, Ron was discharged. He went home to farm, where he and Florence raised a family of seven children. Florence passed away in 2000. Ron has retired to Carlyle where he enjoys golfing and winters in Arizona. YALOWEGA, John WWII John joined the Armed Forces in 1941. In 1944 he was killed in France, at the age of 22 years.
