The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 359 WIEBE (CALDWEL), Elsie Hilda WWII Elsie was born in 1920 in Altona, Manitoba. She enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and served in Canada until her discharge. Elsie has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion at several branches. WIEBE, John WWII John was born on July 1, 1918 on a farm near Altona, Manitoba. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 17th Field Regiment, RCA, Canadian Armoured Division in England, Italy and Holland. John passed away on June 14, 1983. WILSON, Thomas Harvey WWII Thomas was born on February 9, 1925 in Parkman, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as soon as he was 18 and he graduated as an Air Gunner with his commission as a Pilot Officer. He was then posted to Bomber Command and took O.T.U. in Scotland. Thomas was killed on June 8, 1944 on a night training flight in a Halifax. He is buried at Stonefall Cemetery, Yorkshire, England. Thomas was 19 years old. WILLIAMS, Edward Forsaith WWII Edward was born on December 5, 1917 in Garden Head, SK. He joined the Armed Forces in October of 1940 and after a month in the SSR, he transferred to the RCAF. He was married on June 3, 1944 to Irene Wilkie and on August 29 he received his embarkation notice to the UK. He was sent to India and served with 435 Squadron. On January 12, 1945 the Dakota aircraft was shot down by a Japanese fighter while dropping supplies to the 14th British Army. The plane crashed and there were no survivors. Edward was 27 years old.
