WEBB, Alfred John Boer War & WWI Alfred was born in 1880 in Berkshire, England. He came to Canada as a young boy. His adventurous life as a soldier started at the age of 18 when he fought in the Boer War and later in WWI with the Canadian Mounted Rifles. For over 3 years he fought along side his fellow Canadians at Vimy Ridge, the Battle Mons, Ypres, and Hill 60 where he was promoted to Sergeant. A piece of shrapnel cut the corner off of the New Testament he carried over his heart and entered his lung where it remained. After the war he homesteaded through the Soldiers Settlement Board. Alfred passed away in 1965. WEEDON, James Frederick Gladstone WWII James was born in June of 1916 in Kisbey, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Wireless Air Gunner and was sent overseas to England in early 1944. On his 11th raid over Germany, his plane was shot down on November 1, 1944. James is buried in Venray, Holland. WEEDON, James Frederick WWI James was born on October 22, 1879 in London, England. As a young lad, he and his brother went to Africa to fight in the Boer War. He was taken prisoner and released in 1903 and came to Canada. He joined the Canadian Army in 1915 and served as a Farrier with the Army Service Corps in France and England. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Christopher Lake Branch for 28 years. James passed away in August of 1958.
