The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 333 TOWILL, Frederick W. “Fred” WWII Fred was born on October 28, 1925 in Whitewood, SK. He enlisted with the Regina Rifle Regiment in July of 1944 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was demobilized in May of 1946 and returned to Canada where he farmed in the Whitewood area until his death in 1989 at the age of 63. Fred was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #87. TOWILL, Graeme W. WWI Graeme was born on August 10, 1892 in Golderich, ON. He moved with his family to the Moosomin, SK area in 1902. He enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in February of 1915 and served in England, France and Belgium with the 10th Canadian Mounted Rifles and the 4th Battalion, Canadian Machine Gun Corps. He was demobilized in June of 1919. He took up farming under the Soldier Settlement Board on what was then the Ochapowace Reserve, now know as the Armentieres district. He was a member of the GWVA and The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #87. Graeme passed away in 1973. TURNER, Alfred Gordon WWII Alfred was born on June 29, 1918 in Chickney, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Navigator. He served in Canada, England, Scotland, Egypt, and Malta. He served with 65 Squadron and 39 Squadron. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. Alfred was killed in action on November 2, 1942 when his aircraft was shot down into the sea and sank in Tobruk, Libya. TOWNSEND, William John WWII William was born in 1921 in Mazenod, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as an Airframe Mechanic in Alberta and Manitoba until his discharge. William passed away in 1997.
