He enlisted with the Army and served with the 1st Armoured Brigade, Ontario Tank Regiment in England, North Africa, Sicily, Belgium, and Holland. He received the Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, 1939-45 War Medal, 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star and the Italy Star. Harry passed away in 2000. TANAKA, Minoru “Morgan” WWII Morgan was born in 1919 in Meridian, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the A Battery, 10 Armored Regiment, Fort Garry Horse, Royal Canadian Armored Corps in Normandy and Germany. Morgan was killed in action in 1945 in Germany. He is buried in Croesbeek, Holland, Canadian War Cemetery. He received the following Medals: Memorial Cross, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, 1939-45 War Medal, 1939-45 Star, and the France and Germany Star. Tanaka Lake in Saskatchewan is named in his memory. TARNOWETSKI, Walter WWII Walter was born in 1924 in Sheho, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 3rd Division Signals and was attached to La Regiment De La Chadiers. He served in Canada, England, and Continental Europe and was part of the Occupational Forces in Germany. Walter has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Sheho Branch #356 for 59 years. TANAKA, Taisuke “Tommy” WWI Tommy was born in 1892 in Kagoshima-Ken, Japan. He enlisted with the 209 Battalion, Canadian Overseas and transferred to the 10th Battalion and served in France. He was wounded at the Battle of Vimy Ridge where he lost his right eye and was hospitalized for the rest of the war. He received the Victory Medal 1914-1919, 1914-1915 Star, the British War Medal and the Veterans Badge. Tommy passed away in 1959.
