The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 323 STYLES, Kenneth Earl “Ken” WWII Ken was born in 1919 west of Penzance, SK. He enlisted with the Army in 1941 in Regina. Following his training he headed for the United Kingdom, and then to France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany, where he served with the L of C Signals, Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He returned to Canada and was discharged on November 27, 1945 in Regina. He was awarded the CVSM Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defense Medal, and the War Medal 1939-45. He was a member of The RCL Craik Branch for 48 years. Ken passed away in 2001. SUTHERLAND, Emily Barager WWII Emily was born on July 20, 1922 in Pontiex, SK. She enlisted in the Army in 1942 and met her husband to be, Vilas McAdams in 1943 and they married in 1945. She was stationed in Maple Creek, SK, Sussex, NB and Regina, SK. She was discharged from the Army in 1945. Emily passed away in 1985 and is buried in Queenʼs Park, Calgary, AB. SYRENNE, Roland Adrien WWII Roland was born on March 11, 1920 in Fannystelle, Manitoba. He was conscripted into the army on December 4, 1941. He served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Holland, Germany, Canada, England, and Belgium before his discharge on January 24, 1946. He received the France and Germany Star and the Star for volunteering. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Pontiex Branch #297. The Legion was always the love of his life. Roland passed away on November 14, 1994. SWEETING, Alfred James WWII Alfred was born on November 12, 1920 on a farm outside of Kamsack, SK. On March 3, 1943 he joined the Army at Fort Osborne Barracks in Winnipeg. He took his basic training at Fort Gary and from there was sent to Camp Borden. On Halloween night in 1943 he landed in Scotland and did some more training there. He was put in the 12th Manitoba Dragoons and went to France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was discharged in Winnipeg on April 4, 1946. Alfred has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 53 years.
