The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 289 RUSSELL, Earl WWII Earl was born in 1923 in North Portal, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the 424 Squadron in England. He was awarded the Flying Cross for completion of 35 bombing trips in 1944. Earl is a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion North Portal Branch #117. RYLAND, Robert William “Bill” WWII Bill was born on May 9, 1920 in Eston, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 16, 1942 as A.E.W. in Saskatoon. He completed his training at St. Thomas in December of 1942. he served in Canada and attained the rank of Leading Aircraftsman by April 1, 1943 and was honourably released on March 18, 1946 when he transferred to the Reserve General Section Class “E.” He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and War Medal 1939-45. He married Rita Rompre on June 16, 1949 and they raised 3 children. Bill passed away on January 7, 1990. SALLOUM, Eddie George WWII Eddie was born in 1922 in Karoun, Syria. He enlisted with the R.C.N.V.R. at the HMCS Queen in Regina, SK. He served in Newfoundland until his discharge. Eddie is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #148. SADOWSKY, Walter WWII Walter was born in 1920 in Richard, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the C.A.(B) T.C. 120th in Canada until his discharge in 1946. After the war he returned to the farm at Richard, SK. He retired to North Battleford, SK in 1986. Walter passed away in 1995.
