The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 283 RICHARDSON, Kenneth R. WWII Kenneth was born in 1914 in Rawalpindi, India. He was the son of a British Soldier; his initials reflect his fatherʼs Regiment, the Kings Royal Rifles. His family came to Canada when he was a boy. His military career started as a Cadet. His medical problems led to him training troops prior to them going overseas. After WWII, he served in the North Saskatchewan Regiment Militia, part of this period as its Commanding Officer. He was active in voluntary service including the RCL Branch #349, the St. Johnʼs Ambulance and the Masons. Ken passed away in 2004. ROBINSON, William J. WWII William was born in 1920 in Neville, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on January 7, 1942 and served in Canada and England. He was Honourably Released and transferred to the Reserve, General Section, Class “E” on March 27, 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the Defense Medal for his service. William was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branches 328 & 189. ROLLINGS, Basil Robert WWII Basil joined the Canadian Army in November 1940 and trained in Communications. He served overseas in England, France, Germany and Holland. Basil received the following medals: 1939 - 1945 Star and clasp, France - Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, The Defence Medal, War Medal 1939 - 45. Basil was on the first wave at the Beaches of Normandy. On Dec. 8,1945 Basil married Vera May King from London, England. After discharge they returned to Canada and made their home in Yorkton. Basil passed away June 25,1994. ROCKEY, Arthur John WWII Arthur was born on September 26, 1916 in Lynthorpe, SK. He volunteered for service on August 14, 1942 in Regina. He served in the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Holland, and in occupied Germany with the 73rd Battery, 5th Field Regiment until August 7, 1944 when the 5th Field broke up and the 6th Field took over. He served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment until the warʼs end. He was discharged from active service on January 4, 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Glentworth Branch for 47 years. Arthur passed away on July 9, 1995.
