The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 275 RASMUSSON, Harold WWII Harold served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. RASMUSSON, Sydney WWII Sydney enlisted in the Army June 1941 with the 18th Manitoba Reconnaissance Battalion. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France & Germany medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. READ, Walker Fuller WWII Walker was born on October 13, 1922 in Carlyle, SK. He joined the Canadian Postal Corp. of the Canadian Army. He went to Ottawa, ON to the P.O. base and then to Debert, NS to the military office #603. He then went to #604 and handled all financial transactions and on to Sussex, N.B. to handle all P.O. business. Walker worked at Can. Military Headquarters in London, Eng. SCI until he was discharged in 1946. Walker was an active member of the Legion for 52 years. He was also an active community member. He served on Town Council for 6 years and Mayor for 4 years. Walker passed away on May 10, 1998. REA, Gilbert Peever WWII Gilbert was born on July 2, 1918 in Deloraine, MB. He enrolled with the Army at the #10 District Depot, Royal Canadian Artillery in Winnipeg on November 14, 1941. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, continental Europe and the Central Mediterranean until his discharge on November 13, 1945 in Winnipeg. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, and the Defense Medal. Gilbert passed away in 2000.
