The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 261 PIPPENGER, Ralph William WWII Ralph was born on March 6, 1904 in Lewiston, Idaho. He moved to the Bestville District of SK with his family in 1911. He joined the 1st Saskatchewan Light Infantry on September 18, 139 in North Battleford, SK. He later transferred to RCOC and then to the RCEME. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe until his discharge on August 17, 1945. Ralph passed away in April of 1964. PLASKO, Adam WWII Adam was born on March 13, 1919 in Bremen, SK. He was enrolled in the Canadian Army as a Private Driver Mechanic on January 11, 1941. Most of his training and time was spent in Dundurn and Montreal. He was discharged on February 19, 1946 and was discharged as a Corporal. In November of 1946, Adam, his wife Marion and Marionʼs brother Joe purchased land near Pierceland, SK with the intention of developing a dairy/mixed farming operation. Adam passed away on February 11, 1964. POLLON, Scott Frederick Peacetime He joined the Canadian Forces Reserves May of 2000 and had his basic training at Connaught Ranges & went with the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa as a Piper. He completed the public duties season under the badge of the Governor Generalʼs Foot Guards. He then transferred to the Queenʼs Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada in Winnipeg and was appointed Pipe Corporal in the Cameronʼs in 2003 & Pipe Sergeant of the Ceremonial Guard that summer. He continued on to the Reserve Pipe majorʼs course in Borden. PLECKHAM, Walter WWII Walter was born in 1925 in Bromehead, SK. In November of 1943, he went to Regina and joined active service. He took his basic training in Brandon, MB then moved to Shilo in the spring for his advanced training in the Heavy Artillery. He was transferred to Artillery when he arrived in England. He then caught a draft to Italy where he joined the PPCLI. He arrived on the Front Line on December 3, 1944. He was shot in the legs on January 7, 1945 and both legs were broken. He was recovering in England when he heard the news that the war ended. Walter is a member of the RCL.
