The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 241 NORDICK, Alfred E. WWII Alfred was born in 1921 in Englefeld, SK. He was 18 when he joined the 49th (later The Loyal) Edmonton Regiment in High Prairie, AB on April 4, 1940. He trained in Currie Barracks before going overseas in August of 1940. He served in the UK, Sicily, and Italy. He married Marjorie, of the Land Army, in Sussex, England on June 5, 1943. He was discharged in 1945 and was a member of 4 different legions for 50 years. Alfred passed away in April of 1996. NYREROD, Ben WWI Ben served during the First World War. All three of his children served in he Armed Forces during WW II (Bill, Herbert and Lena). Ben passed away on May 22, 1981. NYREROD, Lena WWII Lena joined the Womenʼs Air Force in 1940. NYREROD, Herbert WWII Herbert joined the Air Force in about 1940 and went overseas. After the war he returned, with his war bride (Kathy) and settled in Winnipeg. Herbert passed away on September 20, 1972.
