The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 229 MORRISON, Wesley Kenneth WWII Wesley was born January 1, 1915 to Alexander and Margaret Morrison. They farmed north of Carlyle and Wesley attended Mountain Valley School and Carlyle High School. After school he joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles of the Canadian Army in 1943. He trained as a Rifleman. During the Normandy Invasion he was captured. On June 8, 1944 the Germans took him out of the prison compound and shot him. MORTON, Earl Irwin WWII Earl was born in 1921 in Wilkie, SK. He left Halifax in 1943 on the ship Queen Elizabeth bound for England. He was an Aero Engine Mechanic in the Royal Canadian Air Force. His RCAF Station in England was Skipton-onSwale; it was there he worked mostly on the Halifax and Lancaster aircrafts. Some of hi time was also spent topcliff. He recalled helping the squadron nearest to them, when time permitted, in order to get planes back in the air as quickly as possible. He received his discharge in January of 1946. Earl is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #139. MOULDING, George Edward WWII George was born in 1920 in Lemberg, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939. He served as an Aero Engine Mechanic at No. 5 Bombing & Gunnery School in Dafoe, SK and later in Manitoba. As a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Abernethy, he was active on many committees and was President and Zone Commander. In 1967 he was awarded the Centennial Medal for his work for the Legion. George passed away in 2007. MOSS, Alfred Gordon WWII Alfred was born on June 14, 1912 in Liverpool, England. He came to Canada in 1927 to work for his uncle. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 7, 1941. He served in England, Egypt and North Africa until his discharge on October 16, 1945. After the war he returned to Canada to farm. He received the Star of Africa and the Star of Egypt. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion Glen Kerr Branch # 126. Alfred passed away in December 1970.
