The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 219 McPHEE, Robert Gordon WWII Robert was born in 1922 in Halkirk, AB. He took most of his schooling in Birch Hills, SK and enlisted with the RCAF in 1941 in Edmonton. He was stationed near Bath, England and worked in the Radar department. He lived most of his life in Kinistino, SK and worked hard for the Legion #129. He and his teammates represented SK twice at the Dominion Legion Sr. Curling and were runners up. He transferred his membership when he moved to Saskatoon in 1994. He particularly enjoyed dances at the Nutana Legion. Robert passed away on July 11, 2006. McRAE, Allan R. Korea Allan was born on August 12,1929 in Wishart, SK. He enlisted at HMCS Unicorn in Saskatoon as an Electricianʼs Mate in October of 1948. He received preliminary training at HMCS Naden in Esquimalt, BC and subsequent Electrical Courses at HMCS Stadacona in Halifax, NS. He was commissioned from the ranks as a Petty Officer in April of 1965; he was promoted to Lieutenant in 1967 and to Lieutenant Commander in 1972. He completed his terms of service as Executive Officer Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific) in October of 1975. Allan also received 6 medals for his service. METCALF, Donald Leslie WWI Donald was born in South Dakota in 1892. He came to SK and took up a homestead adjoining the site of the village of Macrorie. He batched for many years and broke his land and farmed with oxen. In 1917 he was conscripted into the army, but reached France at the time of the Armistice and took part in mopping up operations. While training in Scotland he met Katherine Brown, a Scottish schoolteacher. Soon after his return to Canada she made the trip to SK and they were married in 1920. Donald passed away in 1980. McRAE, Randle Richard WWI & WWII Randle was born on June 20, 1897 in Indian Head, NWT. He enlisted in the R.N.W.M.P. Overseas Cavalry Draft Canadian Expeditionary Force on April 30, 1918. He arrived in England on June 21, 1918. He was discharged on May 21, 1919 and received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and the George Medal. He enlisted with the Army on May 1, 1943 and served with the Veteranʼs Guard guarding German Prisonerʼs of War until his discharge in 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Randle passed away on January 16, 1989.
