The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 207 McADAM, William Henry WWII William was born on May 28, 1921 in Lake Alma, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 16, 1941. He trained to become a pilot at various points in Saskatchewan and went overseas in the spring of 1942. He was stationed in Scotland and was killed on August 15, 1942. William is buried at Longside Cemetery in Scotland near Peterhead. McALPINE, Neil D. WWII Neil was born in 1918 in Craik, SK. He volunteered for active duty in Regina on February 15, 1941. He went overseas in 1942, joining the VIII Recce, C Squadron, 12 Troop. He served in England until July of 1944 when they landed at Arromanche, Normandy. He was wounded in October of 1944 when the half-track he was riding in ran over a landmine. He was hospitalized until December when he rejoined the regiment. After the war he took part in the liberation of Holland. He was discharged on January 15, 1946. He was a member of The RCL Craik Branch. Neil passed away in 2004. McCAW, Eric A. WWII Eric was born in 1920 in Avonlea, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 14, 1941 and took his training and was sent overseas. He was placed in the Ground Crew in England and spent 700 days overseas. His job was to rewire or check out the electrical system of each plane after every trip before it was sent out again. He was discharged on September 1, 1945 with the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Wawota Branch #113 for 40 years. Eric passed away in 1995. McARTHUR, Alfred WWII Alfred was raised on White Bear Indian Reserve. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment in 1939, and was discharged in 1942.
