The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 191 LINDER, John “Jack” WWII Jack was born in 1921 in Wawota, SK. He took his schooling in Wawota and joined the Army in 1940 going overseas with the Regina Rifle Regiment. Jack was killed by a sniperʼs bullet on September 25, 1944. He is buried in the Calais cemetery in Calais, France. Linder Lake in Northern Saskatchewan is named in his memory. LISTER, Gerald WWII Gerald joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17 and served for 25 years. He returned in 1962 as an electrical technician. Gerald served on ten Navy ships and participated in World War II, the Atlantic theatre from 1939 to 1945, and also in the Korean conflict from 1950 - 1951. Gerald left the service with the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class. LISTER, William Robert “Bob” WWII Bob joined the Army in 1941. He was stationed in Regina, Camp Shilo, Dundurn, and Maple Creek. Bob returned home in 1945. LISTER, Richard C. WWII Richard joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1941 and served on patrol boats on the Atlantic coast. He transferred to the Navy Fire Boat in 1944. He was discharged in September of 1945, but stayed on as a Chief Engineer on the Fire Boat. In 1948 he resigned as Chief Engineer of the H.M.C. Fire Tug #1.
