The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 177 KNUTSON, Arthur WWII Arthur was born in 1925 in Elbow, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in January of 1944 and went overseas in August of 1944. He served as a Tail Gunner on a Lanc Bomber and did operational flights over Germany. He returned to Canada in June of 1945 and was discharged in August of 1945. After the war he returned to Elbow and farmed for 41 years. Arthur has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #251 for 31 years. KNUTSON, Elmer WWII Elmer was born in 1919 in Elbow, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army in December of 1942. He trained in Regina, Prince Albert, Kentville, NS, and Woodstock, ON. He went overseas in May of 1944 and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He came home to Canada in November of 1945 and received his discharge in March of 1946. After the war he continued to farm. Elmer has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #251 for 33 years. KOLENZ, John WWII John was born in 1919 in Austria. He enlisted with the S.S.R. and served in England during World War II. John has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Bienfait Branch #169 for 50 years. KNUTSON, John L. WWII John was born in 1914 in Naicam, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and was sent overseas in June of 1942. He was stationed in Brighton, England for 3 ½ years. He returned home in December of 1945. John joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch in Banff and served for 8 years and later transferred to the Naicam Branch where he has been a member for 22 years.
