The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 175 KIRK, Victor Garry Peacetime Victor was born on May 27, 1941 in Abernethy, SK. He took the ROTP program with the Royal Canadian Air Force at the University in Saskatoon, SK. He attended from 1959-1963 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He served in Canada until his voluntary release in March of 1967 upon taking a career as a pilot with Air Canada. KIRK, Wilford H. WWII Wilford was born in 1918 in Marchwell, SK. He served with the Q.O.C.H. of Canada in Holland, France, Canada, England and Belgium. He received the following medals: the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, France and Germany Star, 1939-45 Star, Defense Medal, War Medal, Dutch (Order of William) Medal for Bravery. There are only 2 people living in Canada that hold the highest order in the Netherlands. He has had many all expenses paid trips back to Holland since the war ended. Wilford is a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #250. KITCHEMONIA, R. J. WWII He is from Keeseekoose, and he joined the Fort Garry Horse Regiment. He was killed in action on October 12, 1944 and is buried at Beren-op-Zoom, Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands. Memorial: Kitchemonia Lake, northwest of Missinipe. KNIGHT, Sydney Wynn WWI Sydney was born in 1899 in London, England. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 209th Battalion in England and France. He was wounded in action in the spring of 1918. During World War II he served at the Swift Current Airport. Sydney passed away in 1979.
