The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 171 KINASCHUK, Mike WWII Mike joined Armed Forces in 1941. He was stationed in Regina, Maple Creek & Calgary where he took advance training. He remained in Calgary with the Canadian training Forces at Currie Barrack. He was posted overseas in 1945 but did not go as the war was over. Mike was discharged in July 1945. KING, Walter John WWII Walter was born on May 2, 1926 in Ponteix, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army in October of 1944 at the age of 18. He trained in Calgary and served until his discharge in April of 1946. After the war he worked at various jobs in Saskatchewan and eventually he purchased land. He married Phyllis in 1951 and they raised a family of 4 children. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ponteix Branch #297 for 20 years. Walter passed away on July 25, 2002. KINNEE, Ronald Alfred “Ron” WWII Ron was the second son of Wes and Ruby Kinnee. He attended public and High School in Carlyle, SK. When World War Two broke out, Ron enlisted in the RCAF and took training and became a pilot and received Sergeant status. While testing repaired aircraft, he was killed overseas. KINNEE, Gordon Wesley “Gord” WWII Gord was born on July 28,1912 to Wesley and Ruby Kinnee. He had come out to Carlyle in 1909 on a harvest train He worked in the Barber Shop owned by Mr. Burnett. In 1910, he purchased the business. Gord worked with Dr. McKellar while completing High School. When the Second World War broke out, Gord enlisted with #8 Canadian General Hospital - RCAMC as a Dental Technician. He went overseas in 1941 and was discharged in 1945. Gord received the following awards: G.V.S. Medal & Clasp, 1939-1945 Star, Defense Medal, French Star, and German Star. After the war, Gord went into business with his father. He married Erma Beatty. They had two children - Ron and Rick. Gord passed away January 22,1999.
