The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 165 JOHNSON, Loyal E. WWII Loyal was born in 1924 in Fosston, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy and served as a Navy Gunner on Merchant Ships in the North Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea. JOHNSON, Paul Martin WWII Paul was born on April 25, 1910 in Debuc, SK. He homesteaded near Snowden in 1927 and he worked on the Nipawin Bridge. He served in the Army from 1942 until 1946 in Canada, England and Europe. He received the 1939-45 Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. After the war he returned to farming. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Snowden Branch #205 for 43 years. Paul passed away on August 14, 1988. JONES, Sidney G. L. WWII Sidney was born in 1917 in Langmeade, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers in 1941. He served in France, Belgium, Holland, and England until his discharge in 1945. Sidney has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 65 years. JOHNSTONE, Herbert R. “Herb” WWII Herb was born in 1901 in Dumfrieshire, Scotland. He came to Canada at an early age and settled in the Wordsworth, SK area, where he took up farming. When World War Two broke out, he enlisted in the Westminister Regiment and served as a sapper. After being discharged, he worked as an elevator agent at Freemantle - between Carlyle and Arcola. After retirement, he moved to Prince Albert, and then in later years, he was in the DVA home in Saskatoon. Herb passed away on May 28, 1971.
