The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 163 JESSON, Albert WWII Albert joined the Winnipeg Rifles in 1940 and after basic training, he was sent overseas. He served in many battlefields in Europe and was wounded in the head by a flame thrower on the beaches of Normandy. He returned home as was discharged in 1945. Pte. Albert Jessonʼs picture appeared on a 1992 Canadian Stamp Commemorating Canadaʼs role in WW II. JESSON, Fred WWII Fred joined the Canadian Forces in 1939 and served in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany during WW II. He was presented with the Military Medal for Bravery in the Field by the Governor General of Canada at Roads Academy in Victoria in 1946. Fred was discharged in 1946. JOHNSON, Arnold Valentine WWII Arnold was born on August 10, 1913 in Dubuc, SK. He lived in the Whitewood area until 1928 when he homesteaded in the Snowden area. In 1942 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and saw active duty in Europe. He was discharged in June of 1946 and received the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Victory, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He married Phyllis in 1946 and they raised 4 children. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Snowden #205 Branch for 34 years. Arnold passed away on June 27, 1993. JESSON, Norman WWII Norman enlisted with the forces in 1941 and served 3 years overseas in Holland, Italy, North Africa, France, Germany and took part in the liberation of Holland. He served in the Saskatchewan Horse & Calgary Tanks. He was discharged in 1946.
