The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 155 HOUSTON, John S. WWII John was born in 1918 in Vandura, SK. He enlisted with the Armed Forces in April of 1942. He took some basic training in Regina and then was drafted to the British Isles, landing there in August of 1942.His next move was to Borden where he took a Drivers training course. His served with the Canadian Base Ordinance Depot and after 3 years of stock piling vehicles he was transferred to Europe where they moved vehicles closer to the front. He received his discharge in February of 1946. John has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Wawota Branch #113 for 45 years. HOWSHIP, Charles William WWI Charles enlisted in the 229th Battalion at Moose Jaw, SK, on May 14, 1916. After basic training in Moose Jaw, he served in France with the 46th Battalion. He was wounded at , Belgium, in October of 1917. His right foot was injured with shrapnel, later having his right leg amputated below the knee. Charles was discharged on July 20, 1918. HUME, Henry Vernon Frey WWII Henry was born in 1917. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from July 6, 1943 until being honourably discharged on September 10, 1946 and transferred to the Reserve, General Section, Class “E.” He served his country without ever being wounded. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and War Medal. HUBBELL (NORTH), Bertha WWII Bertha was born in 1919 in Lampman, SK. She enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force. She was stationed at various Air Force Bases across Canada from Moncton, NB to Comox, BC from December 1941 to May 1946. Bertha has been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary #122 for 30 years.
