The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 149 HILL, Walter John WWII Walter was born in 1917 in Perdue, SK. He joined the Navy in 1943. After training in Halifax he was sent back to Owen Sound as a Chief Engineer to pick up a tug and sail it back to Halifax. When the Huron Destroyer G24 came in for repairs in Halifax, he had the opportunity to be one of the engineering crew. He served on a Convoy in the North Atlantic, mostly on the Russian Run until the end of the war. He received his discharge in 1945. He is a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Delisle Branch #184. HILL, William Thomas WWII William was born on July 4, 1916 in Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army and served with the Fourth Casualty Clearing Station. He served in England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Italy until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Birch Hills Branch. William passed away on May 18, 2000. HITCHENS, Herbert Frank WWII Herbert enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. He served in Canada and England until his discharge. HITCHENS, Harry Morris WWII Harry was born on April 15, 1918 in Edgeley, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 22nd Saskatchewan Horse Unit in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He always carried a small bible in his pocket, he received some shrapnel in this area and the bible saved his life. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Indian Head Branch #114 for over 45 years. Harry passed away on May 10, 1989.
