The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 143 HAY, Glen WWII Glen joined the Canadian Infantry on May 7, 1943 and took his basic training in Vernon, B.C. He transferred to Maple Creek on August 12, 1943 & then Shilo, MB in October of 1943. In December of 1943 he became qualified anti-tank gunner and in Mar of 1944 was appointed to L/Cpl in Administration. In July of 1944 he was appointed to A/Cpl in Administration. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer service Medal and was promoted to Cpl in Oct of 1945. He spent six months as a guard in the POW camp at Angles and was discharged in August of 1946. HAY, John WWII John enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. He served in Canada until he received his discharge. He received the following Medals for his service: the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. HAYES, William Lucas WWI William was born in 1888 in Oswestry, England. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 28th Battalion C.E.F. in Europe. At Iway on October 11, 1918 during an attack, his company came under severe fire, and all the officers were killed or wounded. Although himself wounded, he took up command and when the advance was held up by an enemy machine-gun post in a house, he crept forward alone and bombed the house, rushing the post, and himself killing the entire garrison. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #08 for 50 years. William passed away in 1959. HAYES, William WWII William was born in 1921 in Tisdale, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He served as Ground Crew in Canada until his discharge. William has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Crooked River Branch #292 for 52 years.
