The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 139 HAMILTON, Frank Fletcher WWII Frank was born in 1921 in Mazenod, SK. He enlisted with the R.C.A.F. and served with the 15th Squadron Bomber Command and 424th Squadron in England and Europe. He was awarded the DFM for his flying when he was returning to England after a mission in Italy and his plane was unable to gain altitude. He was unable to fly over the Alps, so he piloted his plane successfully here and there between the Alps Mountains to return safely to England. He was awarded the DFC for the raid on Nuremburg in 1944. Frank is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. HARPER, A. B. WWII He is the son of Jim and Nell Harper who came from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, before WWI. His father was Reeve of the RM of Cote. He was killed in action on June 23, 1942 and is buried at Sage War cemetery near Oldanbury, Lan Niedersaschen, Germany. Buchanʼs Wellington was shot down at Wittmund. Memorial: Harper Lake west of Stony Rapids, SK. HARTLEY, Harry WWII In 1940 Harry joined the Merchant Marines. He spent many years with the Navy until he was retired from the Force. HARPER, Alexander Milton WWII Alexander is the son of Jim and Nell Harper who came from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, before WWI. His father was Reeve of the RM of Cote. He was killed in action on December 20, 1942 and is buried at New Eastern Cemetery, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Miltonʼs Lancaster was shot down over Duisburg, Germany, but crashed in Amsterdam. He is the brother of A.B. Harper, the boys farmed with their father before enlisting. Memorial: Harper Lake west of Stony Rapids, SK.
