The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 125 GETTY, Kinney Robert WWI Kinney joined the Air Force in the First World War. GETTY, Tom WWII Tom joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and served until he was discharged in 1945. GILCHRIST, Robert Murdoch WWII Robert was born on Oct. 18, 1922 in Foam Lake, SK. He enlisted with the R.C.A.F. in Nov. of 1942. On December 7, 1942 he attended the Brandon Training Unit as an Air Cadet of WWII, training as Mid-Upper Gunner. In Oct. of 1943, he headed to Scotland and his training unit was formed there. He became an official member of Squadron #78 and his crew completed 39 operational tours. In Aug. of 1944 his commission was granted as Pilot Officer. He became an Instructor for the Gun Turret Simulator in England from Sept. 1944 until Feb. 1945. Robert passed away in February of 2000. GILCHRIST, James R. WWII James was born on August 4, 1918 in Foam Lake, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada, England and Europe. He was a prisoner of war for 9 months in Germany. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Foam Lake Branch for 54 years. James passed away in 2000.
