The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 123 GARRY, James Joseph WWII James was born on October 5, 1918 in Kincaid, SK. He enlisted with the Army on December 28, 1940 in Regina. He served with the 18th Battery, 2nd Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery; they were a support regiment for the 2nd Canadian Infantry. He served in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany until his discharge in 1945.He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neville Branch for 39 years. James passed away on December 20, 1994. GARUK, Michael Murray WWII Michael was born in 1924 in Arran, SK. He served with the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve as Able Seaman on board the H.M.S. Huron during WWII. He belonged to the Flin Flon Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion in Manitoba. After the war he dedicated his time to his family and the Flin Flon community. Besides being a volunteer of the Flin Flon Fire Department, he was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners of North America. Michael passed away on April 15, 1992. GERVAIS, Joseph Edward WWII Joseph was born in 1922 in Estevan, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the P.E.I. Highlanders, Canadian Fussilers, South Saskatchewan Regiment, 3rd Division. He served in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and the North Pacific. He received the following Medals: France and Germany Star, Volunteer Medal, King George VI, and the Dutch Medal. Joseph is a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 40 years and was Legion President for 3 years and Zone Commander for 6 years. GENT, Robert Frederick WWII Robert was born in 1924 in Halbrite, SK. He joined the Army Royal Winnipeg Rifles December 2, 1942. He took his training in Shellbrook, QC and Camp Borden, ON. He embarked for England on April 29, 1944. While in England he trained women for ambulance drivers. He left for Belgium on October 6, 1944 and was wounded on February 21, 1945 in Reichwald Forest. He returned to Canada and was discharged on November 24, 1945. He married Sylvia Colvin in December of 1947 and they raised 6 children. Robert passed away on January 1, 2007.
