The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 119 FOSTER, Kenneth Gordon WWII Ken was born on October 6, 1921 in Abernethy, SK. He signed up with the RCAF in 1949. He took his training to become a pilot at Mossbank, SK Air Base. He was sent to England where he was attached to a bomber squadron and made eight bombing raids over occupied Europe. He held the rank of Flying Officer. He returned to Canada and was demobilized. He went to University, was married and then re-enlisted with the RCAF where he became an instructor. It was in that capacity while stationed at Portage La Prairie that Kenneth was involved in a fatal crash, April 7, 1955. FOX, Bernard Allan WWII Bernard was born on November 26, 1922. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with 614 Squadron in England and in Italy until his discharge. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross. “Warrant Officer Fox has completed numerous sorties against many important and heavily defended targets in enemy and enemy occupied territory. He has proved himself to be an efficient, conscientious and resourceful air bomber contributing considerably to the success of his squadron.” Bernard has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Moose Jaw Branch for 34 years. FRANKLIN, L. R. WWII L. R. was born in 1919 in Invergordon, SK. He enlisted with the R.C.C.S. and took his basic training in Regina, SK. He then spent 2 months in Kingston, ON for Signals training. He spent 9 months in Val Cartier, QC and another 9 months in Debert, NS. He was sent overseas in July of 1943 and served with the 23rd Regiment R.C.A., 4th Armored Division. He served as a Radio Operator in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. L. R. has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Birch Hills Branch #122 for 54 years. FRANKLIN, Albert E. WWII Albert was born on June 5, 1918 in Crystal Springs, SK. He enlisted with the Army on June 23, 1941. He served with the 4th Division Royal Canadian Service Corps and was employed as M.V. Fitter in Group “A”. He served in Canada for 16 months and then was sent overseas to the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and served for 41 ½ months until his discharge on April 2, 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Prince George Branch. Albert passed away in 1986.
