The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 103 DOUVILLE, Wilfrid A. WWII Wilfrid was born in Ponteix, SK. He was called to serve King and Country in 1940. Most of his time was spent in Canada and mostly on the west coast as the Japanese were not too far out on some islands. Once the Japanese decided to pull out then it made a big change as some of the soldiers were sent to Saskatchewan for more training. They were then shipped overseas for service in Holland for the spring and summer of 1945. He arrived back in Canada on December 31, 1945 and received his discharge in February of 1946. DOW, Alex Doug “Sandy” WWII Sandy was born in 1918. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the 408 Squadron in England until his discharge. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Moose Jaw Branch #59 for 30 years. DRUMM, Douglas Peacetime Douglas was born on January 15, 1942 in Wawota, SK. After completing his grade eleven at Wawota High School, he joined the Royal Canadian School of Signals. He was sent to Kingston, ON and was later stationed in Gagetown, NB. After 3 years of service and because of the death of his father in 1963 he returned home to join the family business, Drummʼs Garage. He married Bertha Benner in 1968 and they had 4 children. He was very active in the Wawota Legion, holding various offices, the last being Poppy Chairman. Douglas passed away on March 6, 2007. DRINNAN, Ralph A. WWII Ralph was born in 1910 in Wawota, SK. He joined the Regina Rifles on June 13, 1940. He trained at Dundurn until September 1940 when the Regiment moved to Debert, NS for more training. On August 24, 1941 the regiment sailed for England and spent the next 3 years training there. He landed at Courselles sur Mer Normandy on D-Day June 6, 1944. He became Lance Corporal and later Corporal. He received the “Commander in Chiefs Certificate” in September of 1944. He returned to Canada and was discharged on August 8, 1945. Ralph passed away on August 1, 2000.
