DERMAN, Wilfred WWII Wilfred was born on July 26, 1921 in Moose Jaw, SK. He came to Arborfield in the 1930ʼs. He enlisted with the R.C.N.V.R. on July 27, 1940 on Convoy Duty. He received his discharge on August 15, 1945. After the war he married and moved to Sherridan, MB where he mined. He had a mink ranch in Alberta and then mined in Lynn Lake, MB until his retirement in 1983. He then moved to Blaine Lake, SK. DEVEREUX, Arthur WWI Arthur was born in 1884 in England. He enlisted with the Canadian Army and joined the 229th Battalion on March 29th, 1916. This battalion later transferred to the 46th Battalion in Moose Jaw, SK. He served in Canada, England and France where he took part in the battles of Vimy Ridge, Ypres and Passchendale and was wounded twice. He was a member of the Richmond BC Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion for 22 years. Arthur passed away in 1977. DICK, Evert WWII Evertʼs parents came to Arborfield in 1928 to run a store. He enlisted with the R.C.N.V.R. on March 20, 1944. He served aboard the Uganda, Naden, and Discovery until his discharge on March 7, 1946. After the war he was married and was a butcher. He lived in Campbell River, SK. DINNELL, Stewart “Scotty” WWI Scotty came to Canada in 1906 from Scotland with his wife Agnes and son Bill. They lived in the Saskatoon area until the war broke out. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 8th Battalion overseas until his discharge. In 1929 he filed for a homestead in the Connell Creek area and in 1932 the family moved to Arborfield and built a house. Scotty passed away on November 7, 1948; his funeral was the 1st Legion Military Funeral in the Arborfield District. No Photo DIXON, Henry Ward WWII Henry was born in 1918 in Lorlie, SK. He enlisted with the Army in 1940 for training. He transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Mossbank, Trenton, Lethbridge and Calgary as a Motor Mechanic until his discharge in 1944.
