DALEY, Michael Gerald WWII Michael was born on November 24, 1923 in Allan, SK. He joined the Army in 1944 and trained in Dundurn and Gimli MB. He took his discharge in 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Big River Branch #136 for 52 years. Michael passed away on June 25, 1995 and is buried in the Big River Cemetery. DANYLUIK, John WWII John was born on October 18, 1919 in the Insinger area. He attended Yemen School and assisted his parents on the farm. He enlisted with the R.O.A. in October of 1941. He served in Canada as a Gunner until his discharge in May of 1945. He then returned home and started farming. He married Margaret Fedorchuk in September of 1950 and they were blessed with 2 sons and 1 daughter. John is now semi-retired and living on NW-3-29-8 with Margaret and they still enjoy doing chores and helping out whenever they can. DARLING, Roland Waldemar WWII, Korean War, & Peacetime Roland was born at the family farm in 1920 at Stone, SK. He joined the Army in 1941 at Regina, SK and served with the Lord Strathcona Regiment in Canada, Britain and North West Europe until his discharge in 1945. He re-enlisted in the Army in 1947 and served until his retirement in 1964. He married Bona Beatty in 1948 and they were blessed with 8 children. He was awarded the following medals: the France and Germany Star, Defense Medal, C.V.S.M., Korea Medal, UNEF Medal and Canadian Services Medal. Roland passed away in 1982. DASH, Johnny Michael WWII Johnny was born in 1919 in Vanguard, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Army Active and served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until he was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Corporal. After the war he got married and they raised 3 sons and 1 daughter. He farmed for 34 years and drove the school bus for 30 years. He was a member of the Pinto Creek Royal Canadian Legion Branch #224 for 30 years. Johnny passed away on February 6, 1988. DASHNEY, Robert Neil WWII Robert was born on April 12, 1911 in Vars, Ontario and moved with his parents to Rosetown, SK in 1918. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in the spring of 1942 and served with the Queenʼs Own Rifles and Fort Garry Horse Regiments and was sent overseas. On his birthday in 1943 he was severely wounded in Holland and was discharged. After the war he farmed in the Newburn District north of Sheho. Robert passed away on May 31, 1990.
