WETZEL, Peter WWII Peter was born in Tuffnell, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Artillery on April 18, 1942 and served in England, North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He married Jean Shurgot in 1947 and raised a family of 4 sons. He joined the Sheho Legion Branch in 1959 and served for a few years before transferring to the Foam Lake Branch. Peter currently resides in Foam Lake, SK. WHITE, Alex M. WWII Alex was born on November 15, 1923 in Craik, SK. He enlisted with the Canadian Navy in February of 1943. He served in the High Seas aboard S.S. Green Gables Park until his discharge in May of 1946. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Craik Branch #10 for 37 years. Alex currently resides in Regina, SK. WHITE, Ross Charles WWI Ross was born in 1895 in Fall Brook, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War serving in Canada and England. Ross received the British War Medal for his service. WHITFORD, Cyrus Donald WWII Cyrus joined the Army in November of 1942 and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada, England, France, Belgium, and Holland. He left for England in July, 1943 aboard the Queen Mary troop ship. He was wounded on October 4, 1944 on the border between Belgium and Holland. He was sent back to Canada on December 25, 1944. Cyrus passed away on February 6, 2007. No Photo WIENS, Edwin WWII Edwin was born in 1919 in Herbert, SK. He enlisted with the Army on March 6, 1942 and served with the Kingʼs Own Rifles of Canada, South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. At Falais Gap in France, he was 1 of 5 survivors of about 300 killed. He was wounded and received an Honourable Discharge on Compassionate Grounds on July 20, 1945. He received the CVSM and Clasp. He was an active member of The RCL for 47 years at Tompkins Branch #140 and at Branch #43 in Pincher Creek, AB. Edwin passed away in 1991.
