WARRINER, Thomas A. J. WWII Thomas was born in June of 1912 in Yorkshire, England. He enlisted with the Saskatoon Light Infantry M.G. in September of 1939 and served in Canada, England, Italy, and Europe until his discharge in April of 1945. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Big River Branch #136 for 51 years. Thomas passed away in January of 2001. WASSIL, Bernard WWII Bernard was born in 1926 in Melville, SK. In 1930 he moved to Armley with his parents and then in 1936 to Zenon Park. He enlisted with the R.C.N.V.R. on May 20, 1944 and served as a Mechanic in Canada until his discharge on January 31, 1946. He married and raised a family of 7 children and he moved to Yorkton to work for the Saskatchewan Government. Bernard passed away on March 5, 2003. WASSIL, Matthew WWII Matthew was born in 1925 in Melville, SK. In 1930 he moved to Armley with his parents and then in 1936 to Zenon Park. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 15, 1943 and served as an Instrument Mechanic in Canada until his discharge on December 28t, 1944. After the war he married and moved to Regina and taught Business Education at the University of Regina. They raised 3 sons. Matthew passed away in 1987. WEED, David WWII David was born in May of 1918 in the Arborfield area. He enlisted with the R.C.E.M.E. on July 16, 1941 and served as a Radio Mechanic in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany until his discharge on January 22, 1946. After the war he moved to Vernon, BC and was married. He and his wife raised a family of 2 sons. David passed away on August 28, 1995. WEED, Gordon WWII Gordon was born on September 18, 1919 in the Arborfield area. He enlisted with the Army 2nd D Canadian Signal Corps on August 21, 1941. He was then transferred to 2nd Division Signal Corps then onto the R.C.E.M.E. as a driver and served in Canada, England, Holland, and Germany until his discharge on April 7, 1946. He was married while serving overseas. They lived on his fatherʼs farm before moving to their land in the Moose Range area. Gordon passed away on November 23, 2004.
