THOMPSON, James William WWII James was born in 1923 in Lairg, Scotland. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England as an Air Gunner and was then promoted to Pilot Officer of the R.C.A.F. Special Section. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Whitewood Branch #87. James passed away in 1972. THOMPSON, Russel Thorb WWII Russel was born in 1915 in Cabri, SK. He enlisted with the Air Force in 1942. He trained in Dafoe and Calgary as a Wireless Air Gunner. He served with the 426th Thunderbird Squadron in England until his discharge in 1944 with the rank of Flying Officer. He was awarded a re-eyed caterpillar indicating he bailed out of a burning plane. He also received a DFC. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Abernethy Branch #26 for 60 years. Russel passed away in 2002. THOMPSON, Samuel Angus McCallum WWII Samuel was born in 1919 in Coronach, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served in Canada until his discharge in 1945 as an aero-engine mechanic. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Coronach Branch #268 for 51 years. Samuel passed away in 2007. THOMPSON, Thomas R. WWII Thomas was born in 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Army during World War Two. He served for four years in England, France, and Germany. He was awarded the M.M. Medal. Thomas passed away in 1989. THOMPSON, Walter “Jack” WWII Jack was born on September 21, 1912 in Kelwood, Manitoba. He moved with his parents to Pleasantdale, SK. He enlisted with the R.C.E. in 1939 and served in Canada, England, France, Germany, Holland, and Belgium until his discharge in January of 1945. He married Myrtle Pendleton and in 1948 they moved out to the homestead. They finally went to Arborfield and there they raised a family of 8 children. Jack passed away on October 24, 1981.
