SMITH, Wilfred WWII Wilfred was born in 1890. He moved his wife and 2 children to the Arborfield area in 1931 from Wilcox. He purchased land near Connell Creek where he farmed for years. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 5, 1941 and served with Service Police in Canada until his discharge on March 11, 1946. After the war he continued to farm. Wilfred passed away in August of 1973. SMITH, William Robert WWII William was born on December 21, 1919 in Elbow, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in July of 1941 as Warrant Officer 1st, Class with the 295 Squadron- Navigator, Coastal Command and served in England and Canada until his discharge in October of 1945. After the war he married and raised a family in Calgary, Alberta. William passed away on November 22, 2002. SMUT, George WWII George enlisted with the Canadian Army Active on December 8, 1943. He served in England, France, and Germany until his discharge on June 27, 1946 with the rank of R.F.N. He received the following medals: France and Germany Stars, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the 1939-45 Star. He married in 1950 and they raised a family of six sons and three daughters. He joined the Sheho Legion Branch and served for 19 years. George passed away in 1980. SNELL, Robert WWII Robert was born in 1921 in Big River, SK. He enlisted with the Army in 1941. After Basic Training he was shipped overseas with the Saskatoon Light Infantry. He participated in the invasion of Sicily, the Italian Campaign and in the Liberation of Holland. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Big River Branch #136 for 30 years. Robert passed away on December 20, 2005. SOUBOLSKY, Steve WWII Steve enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 23, 1942 as an Aero Engine Mechanic. He served in Canada until his discharge on June 16, 1945 with the rank of L.A.C. After the war he enrolled in the University of Saskatchewan and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1950. He married Sophie Fronko on August 2, 1950 and raised a family of two daughters and three sons. Steve passed away on June 29, 1995. The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 313
