SMAIL, Murray WWII Murray was born in 1923 in Hafford, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 18, 1941 and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany until his discharge on October 1st, 1945. He received the following medals: 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense of Britain Medal, Canadian Voluntary Service Medal & Leaf, and the Victory Medal. Murray has been a Member of the Christopher Lake Branch #159 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 36 years. SMITH, Arthur Albert WWI Arthur was born on May 1, 1890 in Tottenham, London, England. He enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on October 11, 1917 in Winnipeg, MB. He served overseas with the Canadian Machine Gun Brigade as a Motorcycle Dispatch Rider. During WWII he worked with the M.C.N. Aircraft Repair in Prince Albert, SK as a draftsman and Mechanic for the War Effort. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Shellbrook Branch #111 for 53 years. Arthur passed away on December 13, 1972. SMITH, Jack “John” WWII John was born on October 5, 1919 in Yellowgrass, SK. He came with his parents to the Arborfield area in 1931 from Wilcox. He enlisted with the Army S.L.I. on September 29, 1940. He transferred to Lord Strathcona Horse and then to the Canadian Provost Corps and served as a Mechanic in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany until his discharge on February 7, 1946. He married in 1945 and they lived in Regina until 1973 when they returned and bought land and had a market garden. John passed away on April 19, 1977. SMITH (nee MATTHEWS), Madeline WWII Madeline was born in 1922 in Melaval, SK. She enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force (Womenʼs Division) and served in Ottawa for 3 years in Records Office #5.
