PICKERSGILL, Jim WWII Jim was born in 1909 in Keyes, Manitoba. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in March of 1940. He served as a Mechanic in Canada and the United States until his discharge on November 1, 1945. After the war he moved to the U.S.A. to work in Aircraft Production and he retired in Portland. Jim passed away in 1993. PIPPINGER, George Edward “Ed” WWII Ed was born on October 1, 1905 in Cavendish, Idaho. He moved with his family to the Bestville district of SK, west of Hazlet in 1911. He married Lila Wells in 1934 and they raised a family of 4 daughters. He joined the Canadian Army on July 1, 1941 and served in Canada, Britain and Europe until his discharge on January 10th, 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 43 years. Ed passed away in 1988. PITSULA, Michael WWII Michael was born in Moose Jaw, SK. After graduating from Moose Jaw Teacherʼs College in 1941, he began teaching in 1942. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 13, 1942. He served in Canada until his discharge as a L.A.C. on August 18, 1945. After his discharge he attended the University of Saskatchewan and accepted his first principalship at Arran. Michael passed away in 1988. POLONICH, Steve WWII Steve was born on February 23, 1925. He enlisted with the Army in Calgary on November 16, 1943. He served on different ships in France, Germany, Holland and Italy. He was discharged on April 17, 1946 and received the 1939-45 Star, the France-Germany Star, the Canadian Service Medal & Clasp. He got married on November 3, 1946 and raised 5 children. He retired in 1980. Steve passed away on October 10, 1998 from a heart attack. POLWYK, Eli A. WWII Eli was born in October of 1916 in Insinger, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in August of 1942. He served in Canada, England, and Burma until his discharge in June of 1946 with the rank of Leading Aircraftsman. He married Minnie Welyski in 1950 and they raised a family of four children.
