PATON, Charlie, Sr. WWI & WWII Charlie was born on September 12, 1887 in Scotland. During World War One, he joined the Imperial Army and served from 1914-1918 and suffered from poisonous gas which affected him for the rest of his life. He was also buried in the trenches, but managed to be dug out. In 1925, he, his wife and two sons came over to Canada. During World War Two, he enlisted with the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse Regiment. He was awarded the M.B.E. for his thirty-six years in the army. He had a family of 3 boys and 3 girls. Charlie passed away in Vancouver on March 18, 1956 at the age of 68. PATON, James Elwood WWII Jim was born in 1921 in Hounslow, England. He enlisted with the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse Regiment in 1940. He was transferred to the 1st Special Services Force in 1941. Jim passed away in 1993 in Vernon, BC. PAWLIUK, Miroslaw WWII Miroslaw enlisted with the R.C.A.F. on December 1, 1941. He served in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany until his discharge on February 21, 1946. He received the following medals: 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense Medal, War Medal 1939-45, and The Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He married Olena Woroniuk and they raised four sons and one daughter. Miroslaw currently resides on a farm south of Sheho, SK. PAWLIUK, Steve WWII Steve was born in Sheho, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps on January 19, 1942 and served in Canada until his discharge on July 26, 1946 with the rank of Private. After his discharge he worked at different jobs as a farm laborer for a number of years. He then purchased land and farmed for 20 years. Steve currently resides in Foam Lake and is an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion. PAWLIW, Carl WWII Carl was born on July 24, 1923 in Glaslyn, SK. He joined the Regina Rifles as an artillery gunner and served in England, Holland, and Germany. He was wounded in the leg from shrapnel and was in the hospital for two and a half months. After that he did a whole year of army occupation in Germany guarding the canal between Germany and Poland He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the General Service 1945, and the 1945 Holland Medal. Sadly, Carl lost all his medals in a house fire. Carl has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty years. The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 261
